CUI Inc now offers a low-cost incremental encoder that does not require awkward assembly. The ME-16 is only Ř16x22mm, and mounts in seconds, sliding easily onto the base over a removable mounting boss, and locking into place. It comes in four standard resolutions: 75, 150, 160, & 200 P/R—decodable to 800 counts.
By using a measuring system based on a summation of increments, the ME-16 eliminates the need for bulky packaging or excessive currents. With a supply voltage of 5VDC (supply current of 18mA) the ME16’s open-collector output can achieve TTL level, with frequency response of 15 kHz.
CUI accommodates various bore sizes, reaching up to Ř3mm. Individual units include a 12-inch cable and start as low as $29.00 each, decreasing significantly in price as quantities increase. The ME-16 is perfect for any inexpensive, high-volume application.
