AMT203 absolute encoder demo kit

Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI)

The AMT203 encoder communicates via the Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), a synchronous, full-duplex protocol compatible with most other serial communication protocols. We recommend the USB interface to access a COM port for this purpose.

FTDI USB Drivers
The FTDI download page is where you may access the software needed for SPI communications with the AMT203 via the USB cable. Once there, locate the download link for your operating system and click on it. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver for your system.

SPI Reference Manual
The SPI manual provides a detailed description and explanation of the SPI protocol developed by Microchip.

Tool Command Language (TCL) Interface
