CUI Inc now offers High Efficiency R-Core transformers. These technically advanced transformers have two matched bobbins on each side of the core which cancel the other’s magnetic flux field, eliminating the need to countermeasure leakage flux. The core utilizes a high quality, non-cut silicon steel core that demonstrates very little iron loss. It also has a round section produced by a stepless curve slitting and continuous winding, which reduces the resistance loss and heat generation to 50% that of an EI type transformer. With a no-cut core, high-grade material, and minimum distance between core and winding, the R-transformer usually has an efficiency rating of over 90%. R-Core transformers are 30% smaller, 30% thinner, and 40% lighter than an EI type transformer.

Applications for R-Core transformers include office equipment, A/V equipment, medical equipment, CATV systems, and electronic instruments. However, the R-Core is suitable for any product that would benefit from a low cost, streamlined transformer.
