CUI now offers high quality toroidal transformers with pricing lower than other standard toroid models. They are available in standard sizes from 10VA to 1000VA, but custom sizes and requirements are welcome. Toroids represent a significant advantage over EI type transformers in size, shape, and function. Primarily, the length of the winding is shorter than an identical EI type transformer because the copper wire is spread over the entire core. This results in a stacking factor of 95% of its theoretical weight, a magnetic flux that is same as the rolling direction of the steel, and a significant reduction in magnetostriction. Applications include audio equipment, computer accessories, home appliances, telecommunications equipment, and industrial/medical equipment. Toroids are the most recent addition to CUI’s new line of transformers, which include R-Core and laminated types.
